Return of the Elder

When Rich saw this picture, he said, "Wow, the Card women really are beautiful." Yep! The excitement only enhances the beauty!

Lily has fantastic uncles (and aunt) to help her stay focused two hours past her bedtime.

Before...when none of us could sit still...our excitement levels were through the roof!

And here he is! Our very own Elder Card (until tomorrow at 5:30pm, at which point he will still be ours, but will be Mike).

That's happiness if I've ever seen it!

Lily just couldn't seem to give him enough hugs. And everyone had a HUGE smile stuck very squarely on their face!

Here we are, all together again for the first time in two whole years! 

What a night! I'm glad we all stayed up way too late talking and music-ing. Love you all! 

A love letter for his birthday

Dear Richard,

I am so glad that we got the chance to get to know each other in high school.

I am so glad that you lived through your mission.

Whenever I think about our courtship I am relieved that you would allow me to come back into your life after I broke your heart that one time.

I am amazed when I see how well you fit in with my family, and I fall even more in love with you when they tell me how much they love you.

I am always thrilled to see you and Lily playing together, Daddy and Daughter. It gives me no greater comfort than knowing that you are the protector and provider for our family. You are an incredible person, daddy, husband, friend, and I count you as my best and biggest blessing.

I love to spend each passing year with you, and I can hardly wait to see what the rest of forever will bring. I'm so glad I got to spend another birthday with you! Happy birthday, my love. You make me so happy!

Great News!!!

Sarah (the amazing student!) called me this morning to let me know that she totally ROCKED her Physical Science exam. Yeah, one of those,You'll-die-before-you-ace-me tests? She only missed ONE point on the multiple choice!


GO SARAH!!! You show em' who's boss. :0) We all love ya!

You have to know how to deal with us Cards....

Just an FYI, I just wrote my "trunky" letter for Michael to open and read on his plane trip home. Just 32 days to go. It has been a long haul, but I'm ready to have him back. Kinda puts Hannah's sacrifice of Samuel into perspective, doesn't it? Both boys "lent" to the Lord, but we get ours back. I love faithful people!

Welcome to our family blog! I had to put a title in before I could create it, but it doesn't have to stay "The Wild Cards." I'm all for group input on our group blog! Let's have the comments that we make on this post be to decide a favorite title and family picture, etc. Too bad, Mike can't have opinions here for another month. :0)

• You will all be made authors for this blog, so you are all expected to post from time to time on your lives!!! Hint, hint. :0)
• This is a family journal because, let's face it, we aren't ALWAYS going to be living in close proximity to each other. It's a great way to keep up on crazy, normal, happy, and funny happenings in our lives. 
• Below is a picture I thought might be fun to have on the blog...though it is now over two years old. Holy cow...
