Tradition!

Feel free to sing it with Tevye. At least, I remember taking bets on one of Mom's babies once. And we might as well make this official as a Wild Card tradition. Let's take bets on when this baby will be borned. I've got three weeks left from today (due on August 22nd).

Medically speaking, my doctor has given me no reason to think that I'll deliver extra early, but it's also my third baby. *Shrug* Historically speaking, Lily and Ruth were four days late and three days early, respectively.

So make a guess in the comments! Once someone guesses a day, it's taken. To the lucky person who guesses correctly, you get GLORY, HONOR, and I'll make you a hand sized sketchbook or journal. Because life is more fun if you get an actual reward for winning a bet.

* In the case that no one reads my maternity vibes accurately and you all fail, we'll go with the closest guess. By the hour. :)

* The Stubbs also have a pool going, but it's on their family blog and since we actually have a family blog I figure we should use it. And this way you have better odds.

However, instead of mere pictures of a new baby, I figure we'll tell the WHOLE story. It's more fun. :0)

Scene: Easter weekend, Saturday, the 7th of April. The Stubbs family decided to attend Rose Wheeler's baptism and so were all in fancy clothes. Picture time!
Lily thought we were silly, but she lasted long enough for it to work.

 It's sure a good thing that we got a family picture right before it went out-of-date, huh?

So I obviously ran out of steam. I started this post in the hospital...on April 9th or 10th, and now it's almost June. So there! If you want the rest of the story you'll need to ask me sometime. Or read my journal once I'm dead.

Return of the Elder

When Rich saw this picture, he said, "Wow, the Card women really are beautiful." Yep! The excitement only enhances the beauty!

Lily has fantastic uncles (and aunt) to help her stay focused two hours past her bedtime.

Before...when none of us could sit still...our excitement levels were through the roof!

And here he is! Our very own Elder Card (until tomorrow at 5:30pm, at which point he will still be ours, but will be Mike).

That's happiness if I've ever seen it!

Lily just couldn't seem to give him enough hugs. And everyone had a HUGE smile stuck very squarely on their face!

Here we are, all together again for the first time in two whole years! 

What a night! I'm glad we all stayed up way too late talking and music-ing. Love you all! 

Welcome to our family blog! I had to put a title in before I could create it, but it doesn't have to stay "The Wild Cards." I'm all for group input on our group blog! Let's have the comments that we make on this post be to decide a favorite title and family picture, etc. Too bad, Mike can't have opinions here for another month. :0)

• This is a family journal because, let's face it, we aren't ALWAYS going to be living in close proximity to each other. It's a great way to keep up on crazy, normal, happy, and funny happenings in our lives. 
• Below is a picture I thought might be fun to have on the blog...though it is now over two years old. Holy cow...
